A GOD-SIZED IMPACT

“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.”  â€â€Ephesians‬ ‭3:20 ‭TPT‬‬

Family,

For starters, thank you to those able to join us for our Annual Business Meeting. It’s helpful and beneficial to have the spaces designed to create conversation and clarity about the organization of Impact Community Church. One of the things Pastor Mike used to talk about was the tension of the global Church’s identity is the importance of both “organization” and the “organism” that is the Church. That is to say - the church is a system of strategies and structures that each require oversight, leadership, and checks/balances; and the church is a living breathing extension of Jesus. We are called to be His hands, His feet, and His heart. We are by definition - the “Body of Christ”. For me, meetings like those are refreshing and necessary “check-ups” on the “organizational” part of our identity that preserves and protects our ability to be able to be a healthy and effective body.

All of last night’s content and discussion was centered around one of two topics: Elders and Budget. One of our elders, Paul Black, shared in detail a revised “Elder Process” that we are using moving forward. Additionally - I got to share that we have identified and invited three candidates into the earliest stages of that elder process and also formally asked another candidate who has served as an advisor for more than a year to move into the final stage of the process - asking our church body to confirm with a formal vote. Please pray for those individuals as well as our current Elders and staff leadership as we aggressively and intentionally look to increase our number of current Elders.

The remainder of our time together was spent around budget conversations. Due to the recent staff reorganization at the first of the year - we will have a formal budget for approval at a follow-up June 26th Business Meeting. Our leadership team felt it was important to give the new ministry leaders a chance to speak into the ministry needs they anticipate this budget year. I shared detailed information on our budget and budget philosophy, The 36-month “Principle Pay-Down” agreement (that we have 30 months left on) with our mortgage company, and a vision that will truly take “all hands on deck” to accomplish - “A GOD-SIZED IMPACT”. In this vision, I believe and will be asking our church family to be actively engaged in raising $1,000,000 (ONE MILLION DOLLARS) together over the next 30 months. While the extended time for explanation and Q&A last night was incredibly helpful (and the support and excitement from those in attendance incredibly energizing) I tried to cram all of the conversation, content, graphs, & visuals into a 10 minute video presentation to give our entire church family an introduction at a “30,000 foot view”. The truth is - the clock is already ticking on the 30 months we’ve set aside for this God-Sized undertaking. I’m asking every person connected to Impact Community Church - from the weekly attender who has been plugged in for a decade, to the family who attends Christmas and Easter - to be a part of the God-Sized waves of loving-kindness, generosity, and change we want to bring to the individuals, families, and communities all around us.

Don’t delay in getting involved.  Don’t miss out on sharing in the celebration in the coming months as we tell the stories of what we accomplished and who we were able to show the never-ending, overwhelming, reckless love of Jesus to in tangible ways all through the individuals and families in our church…throughout the city and suburbs of Sacramento, California…and across the entire world.

If it’s not God-Sized - I don’t want to be a part of it.  Let’s not settle for anything less. - Dustin Burke
